Saw Shop


One of the most important departments in the sawmill is the saw shop. Here, all of the saws and knives are sharpened and maintained. Saw kerf is one of many factors that dictate the efficiency of producing quality lumber. Other factors are saw speed, infeed speed and temperature.



To aid in monitoring and maintaining consistancy of the above factors, many types of computers are used.



The computers do such things as precision sharpening, maintaining the 'trueness' of saws, feed speed and data gathering.
